Deep Clean the Oven (No Harsh Chemicals)
KitchenMonthly
Remove grease buildup and baked-on food spillovers using natural baking soda paste and vinegar.
Supplies You'll Need
- Baking soda (1/2 cup)
- Water
- White vinegar in a spray bottle
- Damp microfiber cloth
- Non-scratch scouring pad or plastic spatula
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Remove all oven racks, baking sheets, and thermometer from the oven interior.
- Mix 1/2 cup of baking soda with 3 tbsp of water to form a spreadable paste.
- Spread the paste over all interior oven surfaces (avoiding heating elements and gas pilot). Let sit for at least 8-12 hours or overnight.
- While the paste sits, soak oven racks in warm soapy water in the bathtub or large sink for 2 hours, then scrub clean with a pad.
- After overnight soaking, wipe down the dried paste with a damp cloth or plastic spatula.
- Spray white vinegar over remaining residue. The vinegar will foam up with the baking soda.
- Wipe clean with a damp microfiber cloth until all white streaks are gone, then slide clean racks back in.
๐ก Pro Tips
- Apply the baking soda paste overnight for maximum effectiveness on stubborn grease.
- Avoid coating the heating elements directly with baking soda paste.
